Rus.: Снегурочка, or the Snow Maiden, is a very important character in Russia. 
She appears on festivals, in fairy tails, as a mascot in front of stores: everywhere! 
She's as important as Santa Claus is in various other countries 

The most loved (or well-known? ) versions are:
• Snegurochka as the kind granddaughter and helper of Ded Moroz (Father Frost )
• the well-known folk tale where childless peasants built a snowman, which came to life as Snegurka and she lives until summer (yes, UNTIL)
